This comic (as of now 9 out of 25 pages done) is my latest comic. I tried to take what I learned from A Paladin's Tale and improve. I decided especially to use cell shading (trying for the first time) to be careful of where the shadows are. And I decided to force myself to paint backgrounds. Now, as my old roommate will tell you, I hate backgrounds and generally find any lazy way to avoid doing them that I could (I made him do most of the BGs in out crossover comics). Color is another thing I hate to do. I did just pencilwork until college. My roomie got me to start using colored pencils again and I really had a lot to learn. About a year ago I discovered the joy of photoshop from some art major friends of mine and got a copy of Photoshop Elements 2 (I use Photoshop 7 now). So even though I may look good (to some of you anyhow) I am really a noob at a lot of things. I have been working on this since the end of last semester. I took about a month for scripting and some initial page layouts. I haven't gotten much done in the last few months, though, because of the class from hell and making some new friends. But now I am forcing myself to start again and try to finish this one. I still cannot believe that there is less than a year inbetween this and Paladin's Tale. Too bad I'm out of school and out of contact with all those art majors.
P.S. I know the shack and the trees suck, no need to tell me.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
